Job Title: Accountant

Job Description

The Accountant will be responsible for managing and supervising all financial operations within the bank. The role involves planning, monitoring, and reporting on the organization’s financial performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Oversee financial strategy, planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Manage accounting systems and ensure accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with CBN, NDIC, and other financial regulations.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulators during audits and inspections.
  • Monitor cash flow, assets, liabilities, and investment portfolios.
  • Implement strong internal control systems and risk management practices.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the MD/CEO and Board.
  • Supervise and mentor the Finance & Accounts team for improved productivity.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies in line with industry best practices.
  • Handle tax matters including PAYE, VAT, and WHT remittances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the MD/CEO.
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Finance & Accounts within a Microfinance Bank, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is required; must have passed some papers at the professional stage.
  • Completion of the CIBN Microfinance Certification Program is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with BankOne banking software is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
