Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced and results-driven Assistant General Manager, Mines Operations to lead mining activities within our Cement Industry operations in Ibese. This role plays a key part in ensuring that mining is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise heavy equipment operators, drillers, blasters, and other mining personnel.
  • Implement short-term production plans to meet daily and monthly targets.
  • Oversee the development and execution of mine plans and production schedules.
  • Collaborate with technical and managerial teams to resolve issues and align operations.
  • Develop and manage long-term mine planning with input from all departments.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of required raw materials at optimal quality levels.
  • Set production quotas in coordination with the Head of Mines.
  • Monitor performance against budget and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare operational reports and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Provide leadership and training to engineers, technicians, and mine staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Civil, or Production Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum of 21 years of solid experience in mining operations, preferably in the cement sector.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of mining methods and operational planning.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Business acumen and ability to manage cost-effective mining operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
