Role Summary
The Brewing Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining defined brewing equipment and related processes to ensure optimum performance and consistent quality.
Key Responsibilities
Operating and Process Control
- Operate brewing equipment in line with VPO standards
- Monitor process performance against targets and record short stops, correcting out-of-control situations using VPO tools
- Record waste and product movement in the designated systems and review trends to identify and resolve issues
Maintenance of Plant and Equipment
- Carry out autonomous operations as defined for process areas
- Identify defective equipment and report issues to the Process Artisan or Team Leader for resolution
- Assist the Process Artisan or Machine Specialist with running repairs during shifts
Quality Control and Analysis
- Perform required quality checks and analyses, recording results accurately
- Follow work instructions for listed quality checks
- Take corrective actions based on results using the VPO tools provided
Communication
- Participate actively in shift meetings, contribute suggestions, and record issues in action logs
- Understand and work towards achieving the team’s objectives
- Use communication tools such as the shift logbook to share and receive updates
- Ensure a thorough handover to incoming shift teams on plant performance, quality, and maintenance issues
Problem Solving
- Apply VPO problem-solving tools to address and document issues as they arise
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- OND, B.Sc, HND or equivalent in Sciences or Engineering
- Previous experience in a brewing process environment
