Job Summary

The Business Development and Inception Manager will work closely with the Country Director and maintain a dotted reporting line to the Regional Business Development team. This role focuses on designing innovative programs that expand TechnoServe’s impact in Nigeria, particularly in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

The successful candidate will lead the development of high-impact projects, design fundraising strategies, and build strategic partnerships that advance TechnoServe’s mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design innovative programs that focus on value chain strengthening, improving farmer incomes, sustainable sourcing, regenerative agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborate with project staff and regional leadership to create and submit compelling proposals that secure funding.
  • Develop concept notes and pitch documents to attract donor interest and establish long-term partnerships.
  • Guide the proposal development process, including proposal calendars, compliance checks, and review meetings.
  • Support proposal development by coordinating with diverse teams, editing and formatting technical content, and drafting management sections.
  • Build organizational capacity in business development, ensuring best practices and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with global teams to share knowledge, collaborate on initiatives, and improve efficiency in program development.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, public agencies, corporations, and foundations.
  • Contribute to budget development and review.
Basic Requirements and Experience
  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Development Economics, Business Administration, Journalism, or related fields from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in consulting or the development sector, with a strong interest in poverty-related challenges within agriculture and small enterprises.
  • Alternatively, 5 years of experience with a Master’s degree.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of business models and the ability to develop high-quality pitch decks.
  • Proven experience working with diverse teams across multiple locations.
  • Ability to manage time-bound projects and deliver results under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills in English, both written and spoken.
