Role Overview

The Chief Operating Officer will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and executive leadership team to translate business strategies into actionable plans. This role requires a strong operational leader who can balance strategic vision with practical execution, ensuring the company achieves its business objectives effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute strategic goals and business objectives

• Lead and inspire teams to achieve performance targets and deliver measurable results

• Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient coordination among departments such as HR, Finance, Sales, and Customer Service

• Drive business expansion initiatives and operational excellence across all divisions

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvements where necessary

• Translate business strategies into practical operational plans and measurable goals

• Develop and enforce operational policies, systems, and best practices

• Work with the CFO to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports

• Evaluate financial performance and ensure cost-effective operations

• Identify areas for process improvement and implement cost-saving measures

• Establish performance metrics and monitor progress toward achieving them

• Lead initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and overall performance

• Maintain transparent communication with the CEO, board, and internal teams

• Represent the company in external meetings, partnerships, and stakeholder engagements

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field

• Minimum of 10 years in a senior management, operations, or strategic leadership role

• Currently employed in a financial institution on Lagos Island

• MBA or a master’s degree is an added advantage

• Proven record of scaling organizations and leading cross-functional teams successfully

Core Competencies

• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance management

• Deep understanding of financial regulations, lending, digital payments, blockchain, or related sectors

• Exceptional leadership, marketing, and decision-making abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience working within the fintech or financial services industry preferred

• Strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovation and operational efficiency

Salary

₦500,000 – ₦800,000 monthly, depending on experience and qualifications
