Position Overview
Ecobank is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cluster Compliance Officer to join our Compliance Department. This role ensures regulatory compliance, manages anti-money laundering (AML/CFT) processes, and supports operational integrity across branches within the cluster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement Compliance Department procedures across the assigned cluster
  • Enforce AML/CFT policies and ensure adherence to CBN regulations and global standards
  • Guide front office teams on client onboarding, KYC, and due diligence processes
  • Monitor and report compliance issues that may pose reputational risks
  • Support regular compliance activities and maintain accurate regulatory displays
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies
  • Track and update records of accounts under PND or regulatory freeze within the cluster
  • Log and manage all compliance communications and regulatory visits
  • Review daily GL balances and ensure transaction integrity
  • Submit timely and accurate compliance reports and returns
  • Implement strategies to prevent income leakages and reduce branch costs
  • Follow up on audit findings and resolve inspection exceptions
  • Conduct daily reviews of teller journals (TJ) and general ledger (GL) for all branches
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance risks within the cluster
  • Drive KYC updates and documentation for customer accounts
  • Review and address flagged transactions, including SWIFT, SIRONAML, and ACL alerts
  • Ensure proper documentation and coding of Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) accounts
  • Analyze and report suspicious transactions from daily CTRs and FTRs
  • Resolve exceptions on SMARTSCREEN and maintain report accuracy
  • Lead and participate in AML/CFT knowledge-sharing sessions and training
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory and law enforcement agencies
  • Conduct investigations on suspicious transactions and generate reports for the CCO
  • Review monthly GL proofs and perform asset verifications
  • Oversee security and operational audits of branch environments
  • Monitor and address findings from regulatory examiners’ reports
  • Perform spot checks, special investigations, and vendor verifications
  • Represent the bank in court on fraud-related cases as needed
  • Validate Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
  • Organize and lead compliance training activities across the cluster
  • Monitor offsite ATMs in line with compliance standards
  • Periodically review zero balance accounts and those without BVN or alerts
  • Review and validate Bonds, Guarantees, and abnormal expense records
  • Submit weekly compliance activity reports to the Area Compliance Officer
  • Carry out any other assignments from the central office as required
