Role Overview

The Contracts Specialist will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of contract development, negotiation, execution, and compliance for Dangote Industries Limited and its subsidiaries. This role requires a detail-oriented legal professional with strong commercial acumen, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure contractual alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Drafting and Review

  • Draft and vet a wide range of commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, supply contracts, lease agreements, memorandums of understanding, and tender responses.
  • Oversee organizational contract development and management activities while ensuring compliance and integrity.
  • Review contractual performance to ensure both parties adhere to agreed terms and resolve conflicts during renewals or amendments.
  • Develop and maintain standardized contract templates, including payment terms, provisions, and budget presentations.

Contract Management

  • Ensure contracts and proposals are accurately recorded and securely maintained in company databases.
  • Manage the contract approval process to meet or exceed business cycle requirements.
  • Conduct strategy meetings to align timelines, deliverables, and contract requirements with business objectives.

Negotiation and Liaison

  • Act as the primary point of contact during contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with insurance providers regarding contract-related coverage and procurement needs.
  • Track deliverable deadlines and maintain consistent communication with business partners and internal teams on contractual matters.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B).
  • Current membership with the Nigerian Bar Association.
  • 5–7 years of experience in contract preparation and management within a large organization.
  • Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts aligned with corporate standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
