Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will manage cost analysis, inventory valuation, financial reporting, and ensure effective cost control within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Analysis

• Conduct regular analysis of manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
• Review and update cost estimates for new and ongoing products.
• Analyze differences between actual and standard costs and investigate variances.
• Review Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy with production activities.

Inventory Management

• Oversee inventory valuation and ensure accurate records in financial statements.
• Work closely with production teams to reconcile physical stock with accounting data.
• Monitor inventory processes such as receiving, transfers, and production reconciliation.
• Implement and maintain strong inventory control systems.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare financial reports on manufacturing and operational costs.
• Provide insights and recommendations for cost management and budgeting.
• Support budget preparation and forecasting for production operations.

Month-End Close

• Participate in month-end closing activities for accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts linked to manufacturing costs.

Process Improvement

• Identify and recommend cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiencies.
• Collaborate with other departments to implement process improvement strategies.

Compliance and Collaboration

• Ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Work closely with production, procurement, and finance teams to ensure data accuracy.
• Communicate effectively with management and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Salary

₦200,000 – ₦250,000 per month.
