Data Collector (LQAS Survey) at Malaria Consortium

Malaria Consortium, established in 2003, is a non-profit organization focused on the prevention, control, and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases. Our work targets vulnerable and underserved communities, and we increasingly integrate malaria interventions with child health and neglected tropical disease programs for broader public health impact.

In collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), Malaria Consortium will lead a large-scale campaign to distribute insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) in Ondo State in August 2025. Alongside this, we are conducting a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) research project to assess outcomes such as ITN usage, net durability, and malaria incidence. This initiative is supported by Open Philanthropy through GiveWell’s recommendation.

Job Title: Data Collector – LQAS Survey
Location: Jigawa State
Employment Type: Short-term assignment

Assignment Purpose
The goal of this role is to support data collection activities for the End-of-Round (EoR) evaluation of the MDA-AZM campaign. The survey uses the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) method to measure the reach and effectiveness of treatments delivered by community drug distributors.

Scope of Work
This evaluation will be carried out in five states: Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa, Adamawa, and Gombe.
Responsibilities include:

• Participating in a training session on data collection and survey methodology
• Conducting interviews with selected households using digital tools such as KoboCollect or SurveyCTO
• Uploading completed survey responses to the data server
• Addressing feedback from supervisors to resolve any issues in submitted data

Expected Deliverables

• Complete and verified household interview datasets uploaded on time
• High-quality data submitted through the electronic platform

Requirements

• Degree (BSc/HND) in Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in public health research or data collection
• Comfortable using mobile phones or tablets for digital data collection
• Previous experience with LQAS surveys is an added advantage
• Ability to speak the local language (e.g. Hausa, Kanuri)
• Familiarity with local customs and geography of the state
• Must be a resident of Jigawa State and willing to travel to remote communities
• Must be attentive to detail, reliable, and a good communicator

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Malaria Consortium projects or Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) is a strong advantage
