Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Internal Control Officer who will help strengthen our internal control systems and ensure regulatory compliance. This role is essential to safeguarding our financial and operational processes through active monitoring, risk assessment, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and monitor internal control systems across departments
- Perform regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with company policies
- Identify control gaps and recommend improvements
- Ensure strict adherence to operational, financial, and administrative procedures
- Help prevent fraud, errors, and misappropriations
- Verify documentation for key processes and transactions
- Assist with policy development and control framework implementation
- Report control concerns and risks to senior management
- Provide support during both internal and external audits
- Conduct training sessions on control procedures and compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Professional certifications like ACA, ACCA, CIA, or CISA are a plus
- 3 to 5 years of experience in internal control, auditing, or compliance
- Solid understanding of accounting standards and internal control systems
- Good knowledge of Nigerian regulatory requirements (financial, tax, operational)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit tools
