Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects from planning through to completion. This role involves cost estimation, preparing bills of quantities, evaluating tenders, and managing contracts. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered within budget while meeting quality and client expectations.

Applicants should have between 4 and 7 years of experience in the Nigerian construction industry, with a solid understanding of local materials, pricing, contracts, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract

• Prepare cost estimates, feasibility studies, and cost plans for construction projects.
• Develop and review Bills of Quantities (BOQ) using Nigerian measurement standards.
• Support the tendering process, including preparation, evaluation, and contractor negotiations.
• Conduct market surveys on building materials, labor, and equipment within Nigeria.
• Participate in value engineering to balance affordability and quality.

Contract Administration & Execution

• Monitor project budgets and control costs against approved estimates.
• Prepare interim valuations, payment certificates, and progress claims.
• Assess and manage contract variations, claims, and adjustments.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, architects, and clients to resolve financial matters.
• Maintain accurate project finance and contract documentation for accountability.

Post-Contract

• Prepare cost and cash-flow reports for financial control.
• Carry out cost analysis and prepare final project accounts.
• Reconcile contractor payments at project close-out.
• Document lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Compliance & Quality

• Ensure compliance with company policies, construction laws, procurement rules, and professional standards (NIQS, RICS).
• Stay informed on government policies and regulations affecting construction costs.
• Support risk management and cost control strategies.

Teamwork & Development

• Work closely with senior colleagues to achieve quality outcomes.
• Provide guidance to junior staff or interns when necessary.
• Pursue professional development through NIQS trainings and workshops.

Qualifications & Requirements

• B.Sc. or HND in Quantity Surveying from a recognized Nigerian university or polytechnic.
• NIQS membership or graduate membership is an advantage.
• 4–7 years post-graduate experience in Nigerian construction projects (real estate, commercial, infrastructure, oil & gas, or government).
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian construction contracts, materials, and market pricing.
• Proficiency in QS software such as Candy, QS Plus, or CostX, and advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and numerical skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Salary

₦250,000 – ₦300,000 monthly.
