Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to support project cost planning, contract management, and financial reporting within the Nigerian construction industry. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior colleagues to ensure that all construction projects meet cost, quality, and performance standards from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, feasibility studies, and cost plans for projects in Nigeria.
• Develop and review Bills of Quantities (BOQ) following standard measurement practices.
• Support tender preparation, evaluation, and negotiations with contractors.
• Conduct market surveys on construction materials, equipment, and labor rates.
• Contribute to value engineering activities to maintain cost efficiency and quality.

Contract Administration and Execution

• Track and monitor project budgets to ensure spending aligns with approved estimates.
• Prepare interim valuations, payment certificates, and progress claims.
• Evaluate and manage variations, claims, and contract adjustments.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients to resolve financial and contractual matters.
• Maintain complete financial documentation and contract records for accountability.

Post-Contract

• Prepare financial and cash flow reports for ongoing and completed projects.
• Conduct cost analysis and prepare final accounts after project completion.
• Reconcile contractor payments and document lessons learned for future projects.

Compliance and Quality

• Ensure compliance with company policies, construction laws, and procurement standards.
• Stay informed about industry regulations and government policies that affect construction costs.
• Support risk assessment and develop cost control strategies.

Teamwork and Development

• Work closely with senior quantity surveyors to deliver cost management outputs.
• Provide guidance to junior colleagues and interns when needed.
• Participate in professional development programs and workshops.

Qualifications and Skills

• B.Sc. or HND in Quantity Surveying from a recognized Nigerian university or polytechnic.
• 4–7 years of professional post-graduate experience in the Nigerian construction industry.
• Graduate or full membership of NIQS is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management principles.
• Proficiency in QS software such as Candy, QS Plus, CostX, and Microsoft Excel.
• Good understanding of Nigerian construction materials, labor pricing, and supply chains.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and reporting skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects efficiently.

Salary

₦300,000 – ₦400,000 per month.
