Role Overview

The Kitchen Assistant supports the hospital kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared and served in line with patient dietary needs. This role is crucial in maintaining hygiene, safety, and smooth daily operations in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of meals according to hospital menus and individual patient dietary requirements including special diets, allergies, and cultural or religious needs
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, storage, and service areas in line with infection control and food safety standards
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store kitchen utensils, dishes, trays, and equipment
• Monitor food storage by applying stock rotation practices and promptly reporting shortages or damages
• Assist with plating and serving meals to patients while ensuring accuracy of diet orders
• Collect and clean patient meal trays promptly after use
• Safely dispose of kitchen waste following hospital and environmental guidelines
• Follow all health, safety, food hygiene, and infection control regulations
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient daily operations
• Report equipment faults or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor

Requirements

• OND or SSCE qualification
• Minimum of two years relevant work experience

Salary

Seventy thousand naira per month
