Job Overview

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will oversee and perform high-quality laboratory testing to ensure accurate and timely results for patient diagnosis and treatment. This role also provides regulatory coverage for the diagnostic center using a valid Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) license.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

• Carry out and supervise a variety of laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, parasitology, and serology.
• Deliver accurate and reliable results within specified timeframes.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed in line with MLSCN standards.

Regulatory and Compliance

• Provide a current MLSCN practicing license to cover the facility for regulatory purposes.
• Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements and quality standards.
• Assist during inspections, audits, and license renewals.

Quality Control and Assurance

• Implement internal quality control and participate in external quality assurance programs.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Leadership and Training

• Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff and interns.
• Organize training sessions on laboratory best practices and safety protocols.

Safety and Inventory Management

• Enforce biosafety and infection prevention guidelines.
• Monitor and manage stock levels of reagents and consumables, making timely requisitions.

Collaboration

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
• Contribute to management meetings and service improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) and possession of a valid practicing license that covers the diagnostic center.
• Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC professional experience in a hospital or diagnostic center.
• Proven ability to conduct and interpret a broad range of laboratory investigations.
• Experience in laboratory management, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance is an added advantage.

N200,000 – N250,000 per month.
