Position Overview

Job Title: Mid-Senior Backend Engineer (Golang)

Location: Lagos (Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time contract (≈ 40 hrs/week)
Schedule: Work from anywhere; just sync with us for the daily stand-up at 7 am CST

Scope and Impact

This role plays a key part in modernizing how trucking companies, drivers and customers connect. You will take ownership of backend features end-to-end, designing scalable Go services, integrating APIs, working with Kafka connectors and contributing to our multi-tenant architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build highly available microservices in Go (Golang)
• Integrate third-party SOAP and REST APIs and maintain developer-friendly API documentation
• Configure and monitor Kafka Connect for data streaming
• Write unit, integration and load tests for all new features
• Optimize and scale services on AWS (EC2, ECS/Fargate, S3) with Redis caching and PostgreSQL (including RLS)
• Review code and enforce best practices using GitHub Actions workflows
• Collaborate daily with a fully remote team and attend stand-up meetings at 7 am CST

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 4 years of professional Go development experience (clean code, idiomatic packages, context, generics)
• Proven production experience with SOAP and REST integrations
• Experience setting up and monitoring Kafka Connect sink/source connectors and schema registry
• Strong SQL and schema design for PostgreSQL including multi-tenant and RLS patterns
• Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS/Fargate, S3 and IAM basics
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and peer code reviews
• Solid understanding of testing including table-driven unit tests, mocks and Docker-based integration tests
• Fluent spoken and written English, reliable internet connection and a quality microphone

Preferred Experience

• Background in logistics, transportation or fleet management

Compensation and Growth

• USD 2,000 per month paid monthly worldwide (negotiable depending on experience)
• Opportunity to progress into a Lead Developer role and manage a growing engineering team
