Role Purpose
The Nutrition Officer will support the planning and delivery of community nutrition interventions, including Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN), and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance. This role includes working with government agencies and partners to ensure quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Community Nutrition Implementation

  • Coordinate with partners and health teams to deliver quality nutrition screening for children under five
  • Supervise and support Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) services in project locations
  • Ensure effective IYCF (Infant and Young Child Feeding) counselling at health facilities and support group meetings
  • Collaborate with other sectors like Health, WASH, and Child Protection to integrate nutrition activities
  • Track and manage nutrition commodities including RUTF and MNP to prevent stockouts

Capacity Building and Community Engagement

  • Deliver on-the-job coaching and training to health workers, mother leaders, and local partners
  • Support cooking demonstrations and awareness campaigns on nutrition and healthy feeding practices
  • Promote behavior change through visibility of nutrition materials in communities and facilities

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Participate in community nutrition assessments and surveys
  • Collect quality data on field activities for reporting and improvement
  • Document success stories and lessons learned from the field
  • Provide maternal and child care messages during food distribution activities
  • Contribute to planning, budgeting, procurement, and reporting in line with the project’s implementation plan
  • Identify service gaps and support improvements

Other Duties

  • Support additional responsibilities assigned by the Nutrition Coordinator or Project Lead as needed

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Requirement

  • Certificate or Degree in Nursing, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field
  • Previous experience working in a community nutrition program
