The organization operates medical and pathological testing laboratories, scan centers, health clubs, and nursing homes. DLAB also provides a wide range of laboratory and medical equipment, consumables, and supplies.

As part of its expansion, DLAB Medicare is seeking an experienced and committed Resident Medical Laboratory Scientist to oversee laboratory operations and ensure the delivery of accurate and high-quality diagnostic services.

Role Overview

The Resident Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the laboratory. This role involves supervising staff, maintaining equipment, ensuring quality control, and upholding safety standards. The ideal candidate must demonstrate leadership, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to support DLAB’s mission of providing reliable diagnostic services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and analyze laboratory tests with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure the reliability and quality of test results through regular checks and adherence to quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure smooth operation.
  • Manage laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, and supervision.
  • Maintain detailed records of tests, results, and patient data using digital systems.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering and organizing laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure strict compliance with laboratory health, safety, and infection control protocols.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments in accordance with industry standards.
  • Liaise with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) during inspections and ensure compliance with professional regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior laboratory staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC experience in a hospital or medical laboratory.
  • Valid and current practitioner license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Email, and at least one Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Experience using online collaboration tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Must be a resident of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Employment Conditions
  • Must maintain an active MLSCN practitioner license (annual renewal paid by the laboratory).
  • Required to sign an official “Medical Laboratory Scientist MOU” in compliance with MLSCN standards.
  • Residency in Ibadan is mandatory for consideration.
Working Conditions
  • The laboratory operates 24 hours daily, allowing flexible schedules and reasonable days off.
  • Work involves handling biohazard materials and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Role requires moderate physical activity including standing, walking, and lifting light materials.
Salary and Benefits

Salary: N250,000 per month
Bonus: 13th Month/Christmas Bonus (half-month salary after one year of service)
