We are currently seeking qualified candidates to serve as State Consultants to support an important implementation study in Bauchi State.

About the Assignment

The State Consultant will coordinate and conduct the qualitative component of a baseline implementation study. This involves collecting insights from key stakeholders—such as caregivers, health workers, and policymakers—on the integrated delivery of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) and Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS).

The consultant will be responsible for supporting Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and ensuring accurate and ethical data collection and reporting.

Scope of Work
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of integrated SMC and VAS delivery in 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State
  • Assess whether the integration affects the uptake of other Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week (MNCHW) interventions
  • Conduct KIIs with state-level stakeholders
  • Engage, train, and supervise data collectors
  • Use FGD and KII guides with manual note-taking and audio recording for data collection
Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in training sessions to fully understand the study goals and methodologies
  • Facilitate participant selection and set up venues for interviews and discussions
  • Conduct FGDs and KIIs, ensuring informed consent and confidentiality
  • Record and transcribe discussions accurately
  • Summarize transcripts to identify key themes
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard all collected data
  • Submit complete recordings, transcripts, and field reports to the Lead Consultant
Deliverables
  • Completed participant information sheets
  • Full audio recordings and written transcripts of all FGDs and KIIs
  • Final process reports approved by the Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in conducting and managing qualitative research
  • Skilled in qualitative data collection, transcription, and reporting
  • Strong understanding of public health contexts in Northern Nigeria
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Hausa
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards
