Job Description

The Database Administrator will manage the daily operations and maintenance of database systems to ensure reliability, security, and performance. The role involves installing, configuring, and upgrading databases, as well as creating and maintaining databases for production, disaster recovery, development, and testing.

Responsibilities also include performance tuning, backup and recovery planning, data replication, monitoring, and capacity planning. The position requires working closely with system administrators to ensure smooth database operations, as well as executing failover and switchover activities when needed for disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade database systems
• Create and maintain databases for production, testing, development, and disaster recovery environments
• Ensure database performance tuning and optimization
• Plan and implement backup and recovery in collaboration with IT Data Processing Team
• Setup and maintain online replication of data between production and disaster recovery environments
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot database systems
• Perform capacity planning with system administrators
• Execute database failover and switchover for disaster recovery

Qualifications

• First degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• Professional certifications such as OCP, ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner are an added advantage
• Minimum of 1–2 years of knowledge and understanding of Database Administration
• At least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a similar or related role
