The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), a vital arm of the Nigerian Armed Forces, is one of the largest air forces in Africa with more than 15,000 personnel. Its fleet includes fighter jets, transport aircraft, attack helicopters, and drones, all dedicated to defending the nation’s airspace.

Applications are now open from qualified graduates and postgraduates for enlistment into the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 34.

Job Title: Chaplaincy Roman Catholic Personnel

Qualification
  • B.A Theology, B Theology or B Divinity
  • Membership of at least one of the following bodies:
    • Catholic Theologians Association of Nigeria (CATHAN)
    • Nigeria Catholic Diocesan Priests Association (NCDPA) for Diocesan Priests
    • Recognized Religious Body or Congregation (for Religious personnel)
General Instructions
  • Nationality: Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth
  • Age: 20 to 32 years. Medical Doctors (Consultants) can be between 25 and 40 years. Personnel above 32 years should not apply
  • Serving Personnel: Must have served for at least 10 years, reached the rank of Corporal, and must be recommended by their Commanding Officer
  • Height: Minimum of 1.66m for males and 1.63m for females
  • Fitness: Applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit, meeting Nigerian Air Force standards
Local Government Area Attestation Form

Applicants must present an attestation form signed by one of the following:

  • A military officer from the same state not below Wing Commander (or equivalent rank in Army/Navy)
  • Assistant Commissioner of Police or above
  • Local Government Chairman or Secretary
  • Magistrate from applicant’s state of origin

This form must include the signee’s passport photograph and valid ID such as Driver’s Licence, National ID, or International Passport.

Presentation of Credentials

During the selection interview, applicants must present originals and photocopies of:

  • Two recent passport photographs signed and stamped by an officer of approved rank
  • Birth certificate or Declaration of Age
  • Educational and professional certificates
  • Certificate of indigene from local government or state of origin
  • Attestation of good character signed by an approved officer

Applicants must not have any criminal conviction. False declarations or impersonation will lead to disqualification and prosecution.

Academic and Professional Requirements
  • Second Class Upper Division (First Degree) or Upper Credit (HND)
  • MSc/MA and computer literacy are added advantages
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies is an advantage
  • Minimum of five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects
  • NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter required at time of application
  • Medical professionals must be registered with their statutory professional bodies in Nigeria
