Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead Afrilife’s investment strategy, portfolio management, and capital allocation within the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will identify high-value investment opportunities, manage financial risks, and drive optimal returns while aligning with our mission to improve healthcare outcomes across Africa. This position requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of the African healthcare investment landscape.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the company’s investment strategy across healthcare and related sectors

Oversee portfolio management, risk analysis, and capital allocation to ensure optimal returns

Identify and evaluate high-impact investment opportunities within the African market

Lead financial due diligence, deal structuring, and negotiations with investors and partners

Collaborate with the Managing Director to drive growth, innovation, and long-term value creation

Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging healthcare technologies

Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and partners

Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the executive team and board

Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and performance excellence across the investment team
Qualifications and Skills

Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred)

Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment management, private equity, or venture capital, preferably within healthcare

Proven success in driving portfolio growth and managing large-scale investments

Strong analytical and strategic decision-making skills

Deep understanding of African healthcare markets and regulatory environments

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities
