Job Summary

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and managing construction and infrastructure projects from start to completion. This role ensures that all civil works on-site are executed according to approved designs, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Project Planning and Design Review

• Interpret architectural and structural drawings to understand project requirements
• Participate in site planning, layout designs, and interpretation of construction blueprints
• Recommend adjustments to designs or construction methods where needed

Site Supervision and Execution

• Oversee daily construction activities and ensure compliance with specifications
• Track progress of civil works to achieve timely project milestones
• Supervise site workers and subcontractors to maintain quality and safety standards

Quality Control

• Ensure all materials and work meet set specifications and industry standards
• Conduct routine inspections to detect defects, non-compliance, or deviations

Material and Resource Management

• Estimate material requirements and prepare procurement requests
• Collaborate with the storekeeper and Assistant Admin to ensure material availability

Technical Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain project records including site diaries, progress reports, and material logs
• Report delays, risks, or technical issues to the Operations Manager

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety rules, and environmental regulations
• Liaise with government inspectors and relevant agencies when necessary

Team Collaboration

• Work with architects, structural engineers, surveyors, and other stakeholders
• Support in resolving site conflicts or challenges affecting progress

Cost and Time Efficiency

• Monitor budgets and timelines to prevent overruns
• Recommend cost-effective construction methods when necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 3 to 5 years proven experience in building construction or real estate projects
• COREN certification is required
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, project management, and engineering standards
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and other relevant software
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Salary

N300,000 – N350,000 monthly
