Role Overview

Action Against Hunger is seeking a qualified consultant to provide independent third party monitoring services for the ENRICH project in selected local government areas of Borno State. The consultant will support regular monitoring of project activities where access is limited due to security challenges. The role focuses on ensuring quality implementation, accountability, and timely reporting across partner activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine monitoring of ENRICH project activities implemented by consortium partners
  • Verify project processes, outputs, and progress through field visits and remote methods
  • Carry out beneficiary satisfaction surveys, key informant interviews, and exit interviews
  • Observe and verify infrastructure and service delivery activities at project sites
  • Document beneficiary stories and implementation gaps identified during monitoring
  • Provide clear recommendations for quality improvement and risk management
  • Support accountability monitoring and complaint reviews in line with organizational guidelines
  • Provide real time updates and detailed monitoring reports in English
  • Use digital tools and GPS enabled devices to confirm locations and results
Qualifications and Skills
  • Postgraduate degree in social sciences, economics, agriculture, food security, health, nutrition, WASH, protection, or related fields
  • Minimum of seven years professional experience in monitoring and evaluation services
  • Proven experience in third party monitoring within humanitarian or development programs
  • Strong understanding of the social and cultural context of Borno State
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills
  • Experience working in hard to reach and insecure environments
  • Ability to engage with technical and non technical stakeholders
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs or UN agencies
  • Strong field research, data analysis, and presentation skills
