Job Title: Design Manager

Location: Uyo, Akwa Ibom

Role Summary

The Design Manager will oversee and coordinate all architectural and engineering design activities for a hospital project, ensuring designs meet clinical and operational standards. The role involves driving Building Information Modeling (BIM) integration, managing consultant deliverables, and producing accurate, clash-free design packages. The successful candidate will serve as the technical link between the design team, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure quality and compliance with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design coordination across architects, engineers, and clinical planners to deliver integrated solutions
• Develop and maintain a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) including modeling standards and coordination workflows
• Conduct clash detection and resolution meetings to ensure seamless construction processes
• Manage the design model to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with international healthcare standards
• Collaborate with clinical planners to integrate workflows, infection control measures, and patient flow requirements
• Provide technical specifications to support procurement and review vendor submissions for compliance
• Oversee regulatory design submissions and ensure timely approvals
• Supervise production of construction drawings, shop drawings, and as-built models for handover
• Prepare digital deliverables suitable for facility management systems post-completion
• Mentor junior designers and enforce digital collaboration standards among consultants

• Integration of healthcare workflow requirements into the design process

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
• Master’s degree in Healthcare Design, Architecture, or Engineering Management (preferred)
• Professional registration with ARCON or COREN (preferred)
• BIM certification such as Autodesk Certified Professional, Revit, or Navisworks (required)
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in design management, with at least 5 years in healthcare or large facility projects
• Strong expertise in BIM workflows, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination
• Proven ability to manage external consultants and ensure adherence to design standards
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare design principles including infection control and patient flow
• Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and visualization skills
• Ability to lead design teams and manage multiple packages simultaneously
