Role Overview

We are hiring an experienced Java Developer to work on backend systems for financial and digital platforms. The role focuses on building secure, scalable applications, supporting payment systems, and working closely with other technical teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Build secure services with Spring Security and manage data with Spring Data
• Integrate payment gateways and manage transaction flows
• Work with ISO 8583 messaging standards for payment processing
• Design and manage REST APIs and microservice-based systems
• Design, manage, and optimize databases using PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
• Apply security best practices to protect user and transaction data
• Write unit and integration tests using tools such as JUnit and Mockito
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality
• Support deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI CD pipelines
• Work with product managers, frontend developers, QA teams, and operations in an Agile environment
• Prepare technical documentation and monitor live systems using tools like ELK, Prometheus, and Grafana

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Master’s degree is an added advantage
• Five to seven years of experience in Java backend development
• At least three years of experience working on fintech or payment systems
• Strong knowledge of Java 8 or higher, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Spring Data
• Good understanding of REST API design, microservices, and software design patterns
• Practical experience with ISO 8583 and payment gateway integration
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and ORM tools such as Hibernate
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is an advantage
• Familiarity with message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Experience with CI CD tools
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-moving Agile environment

Salary

N400,000 to N600,000 per month
