Job Description

The Legal Officer will play a key role in managing the company’s legal affairs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and protecting business interests. This position is well-suited for a young legal professional with 2–5 years’ post-call experience who is proactive, analytical, and ready to take on new challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and interpret contracts, agreements, MOUs, and other legal documents.
• Identify potential legal risks and recommend preventive measures.
• Ensure documents are accurate, compliant, and favorable to the organization.
• Advise management on legal implications of business policies and decisions.
• Liaise with external counsel and regulatory bodies when required.
• Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Support dispute resolution, negotiations, and settlements.
• Prepare periodic legal reports and updates for the executive team.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
• Must be called to the Nigerian Bar (BL) with active practice status.
• 2–5 years of relevant work experience in corporate or commercial law.
• Strong ability to draft, review, and negotiate contracts.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proactive attitude and readiness to resume within 1–2 weeks.
• Membership of relevant professional associations such as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is an advantage.

Salary

N120,000 – N200,000 per month (net, depending on experience).
