Job Title: Marine Technical Superintendent

Role Overview
The Marine Technical Superintendent will ensure the technical performance, safety, and compliance of assigned vessels. The role includes managing maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and supporting vessel crews to keep operations safe, efficient, and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities
Vessel Management
- Oversee the technical condition and performance of vessels.
- Monitor machinery, critical systems, and onboard maintenance activities.
- Conduct vessel inspections and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
- Ensure proper use and documentation of the Planned Maintenance System.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate repairs with shipyards and contractors.
- Review and approve spare parts requisitions.
Dry-Docking
- Prepare dry-dock specifications, budgets, and schedules.
- Supervise dry-dock operations to ensure quality and timely completion.
- Confirm completion of tests, surveys, and trials.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure vessels meet requirements set by Class, Flag State, Port State, ISM, ISPS, and company standards.
- Support safety teams in closing audit findings and non-conformities.
- Ensure timely completion of surveys and statutory checks.
Budget and Cost Control
- Prepare annual technical budgets.
- Track maintenance costs and operational expenses.
- Review and approve technical invoices.
Crew Support
- Provide technical support to onboard engineers.
- Assist in assessing crew performance and training needs.
- Guide crews on safety and operational procedures.
Reporting
- Prepare technical reports for management.
- Monitor and report fuel and lube oil consumption.
- Document breakdowns, incidents, and corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Marine Engineering or related field.
- 5 to 10 years of sea experience, preferably as Chief Engineer.
- 2 to 3 years’ shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of tugboats, OSVs, barges, or similar vessels.
- Good knowledge of ISM Code, Class rules, and maritime regulations.
- Strong leadership and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in PMS systems such as AMOS, Sertica, or similar.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and multitasking abilities.
Salary
Above ₦1,000,000 per month, based on experience and competence.
