Role Overview
The Mechanical Technician will carry out preventive maintenance and repair tasks across different areas of the production plant. The role involves working on equipment such as conveyors, pumps, fans, boilers, silos, and elevators. The ideal candidate should be skilled in troubleshooting, mechanical systems, and ensuring that all machinery runs smoothly with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Beans Silos, Intake machinery, Bucket elevators, cleaning machines, De stoners, conveyors, Ventilex, Winnowers, Beans breakers, Airlocks, screw conveyors, Fans, Nibbs transport lines, and shell line to the boiler
• Handle preventive maintenance and repairs on Continues Line Machinery, Twin screw, Residence belt, Kahl Dreyer, screw conveyors, steam lines, pumps, Fans, airlocks, blowers, and bearing units
• Carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on Beans Dumping conveyor, elevator and conveyor to the factory, Couplings, gearboxes, belt rollers, bearing units and compressed air line
• Maintain and repair Nibbs line to Scale 4, Pre Grinder bearing lubrication unit, installation of new Sieves, Pump and Gearboxes, hot water lines, SWECO Sieve, Aspiration Fans
• Handle preventive maintenance and repairs on Press 1 to 3, Hydraulic units, cake conveyors, LCS pumps, heat exchangers and steam supply
• Maintain Powder Packing Section equipment including Fans, Blowers, Powder Mill, Powder bagging machine, screw conveyors, Airlocks, compressed air lines, belt conveyor material hoppers, rolling screen, filter boxes and filters
• Handle maintenance checks and repairs on Butter and Liquor packing section equipment such as conveyors, pumps, Torpedo coolers, chilled water line, filling nozzles, chillers, strainers and ball valves
• Maintain and repair compressors, clean radiators and replace filters when required
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Diesel and Shell boilers, inlet fans, pumps, blowers, screw conveyors and hydraulic units
• Maintain Cake Section equipment including blowers, filter units and airlocks
• Use workshop tools for rebuilding, repairing and reconditioning pumps, airlocks, fans, blowers and grinder shafts
Qualifications and Skills
• BSc or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of five years work experience
• Male applicants preferred
• Maximum age of forty five years
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for machinery including conveyors, fans, pumps, and elevators
• Good understanding of equipment alignment including V belts, pulleys, chains and sprockets
• Ability to operate welding machines, grinders and workshop tools
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance processes
• Experience with mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with bearing lubrication, pump servicing and compressor maintenance
• Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues quickly
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during breakdowns
• Strong focus on workplace safety
Salary
N350,000 monthly gross
