Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Neonatologist to join our medical team. This role involves providing expert care to newborn babies, especially premature and critically ill infants. The successful candidate will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for newborns and provide clear support to their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized medical care for newborn babies, including premature and critically ill infants
• Manage patients admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• Attend high-risk deliveries and carry out immediate newborn resuscitation
• Diagnose and treat neonatal conditions such as infections, breathing difficulties, congenital conditions, and metabolic disorders
• Perform neonatal procedures including intubation, ventilation management, and line insertions
• Monitor growth, development, and overall health of newborns
• Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Communicate clearly with parents and caregivers about treatment plans and progress
• Keep accurate and up-to-date medical records in line with hospital standards
• Take part in on-call duties, clinical reviews, and continuous medical education
• Support the training and supervision of junior medical staff when required

Qualifications and Skills

• MBBS or an equivalent medical qualification
• Postgraduate training in Paediatrics with specialization in Neonatology
• Valid medical license and professional registration
• Practical experience working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure

Salary

Monthly salary of N1,500,000
