Nurse, Mental Health at Nigerian Air Force
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), a branch of the Nigerian Armed Forces, plays a vital role in national defense and security. With a workforce of over 15,000 personnel and a range of modern aircraft including fighter jets, helicopters, drones, and transport planes, the NAF continues to strengthen its capacity across Africa.
Applications are now open from graduates and postgraduates for enlistment into the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 34 in the position below:
Job Title: Nurse, Mental Health
Location: Nigeria
Qualification
- Applicants must possess BSc Nursing or HND Nursing from an NUC-accredited University or NBTE-accredited College of Nursing Sciences.
- A valid current practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) is required.
General Instructions
- Nationality: Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Age: Applicants must be between 20 and 32 years. Medical Doctors (consultants) may apply between ages 25 and 40. Personnel above 32 years are not eligible.
- Serving Personnel: Must be recommended by their Commanding Officer and must have served for at least 10 years with the rank of Corporal or above.
- Height: Minimum of 1.66m for males and 1.63m for females.
- Fitness: Must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit according to NAF standards.
Local Government Attestation Form
Applicants must submit a Local Government Area Attestation Form signed by one of the following:
- A Military Officer (minimum rank Wing Commander or equivalent) from the applicant’s state of origin.
- An Assistant Commissioner of Police or higher.
- Local Government Chairman or Secretary.
- Magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.
The form must be accompanied by the passport photograph of the signee and a photocopy of their official ID (Driver’s Licence, National ID, or International Passport).
Required Documents for Interview
Shortlisted applicants must present original and photocopies of the following:
- Birth certificate or Declaration of Age
- Educational and professional certificates
- Certificate of Indigeneship from State or Local Government
- Two recent passport photographs (signed by an officer of appropriate rank)
- Attestation of Good Character as specified above
Academic and Professional Requirements
- Minimum of Second Class Upper Division for degree holders and Upper Credit for HND holders.
- Possession of MSc/MA and computer literacy are added advantages.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies is an advantage.
- Five credits in SSCE including English Language and Mathematics plus three subjects related to the field of study.
- NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Letter is required.
- Medical applicants must show registration certificates with the relevant professional bodies.
Salary
Competitive with NAF standards.
