We are currently hiring for the role of Portfolio Manager

Location: Sokoto.

About the Role

The Portfolio Manager will oversee the loan portfolio and manage a team of Field Credit Officers within the state. The role requires setting performance goals, managing credit risk, maintaining a healthy loan portfolio, and driving the growth of loan products. You will work closely with teams such as Products, Risk, and Operations to ensure smooth loan disbursement and repayment.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide Field Credit Officers within the state.
  • Set clear goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development.

Portfolio Oversight and Growth

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow a strong and profitable loan portfolio.
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, including approvals, disbursements, and repayments.
  • Identify risks and take proactive steps to maintain portfolio health.

Credit Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with company credit policies.
  • Review and approve loan applications from Field Credit Officers.
  • Conduct credit risk assessments and collaborate with senior management to refine evaluation processes.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Prepare regular reports on portfolio performance for management.
  • Keep documentation accurate and up to date.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth loan operations.
  • Build and maintain strong client and community relationships.
  • Handle escalated customer issues related to loan services.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and recommend improvements to credit processes.
  • Stay updated on market trends and best practices to adapt strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 4–5 years of relevant experience in lending, credit, or portfolio management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in credit risk and financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance in the financial sector.
  • Proven success in managing and growing a loan portfolio.
  • Must reside in Sokoto State.
