Role Overview

The Press Release Distribution Specialist will manage the creation, distribution, and amplification of press releases across African and international markets. This position requires excellent media relations skills, strong writing ability, and a clear understanding of press distribution platforms. The specialist will collaborate with the content, PR, and marketing teams to ensure releases reach the right audiences, drive meaningful coverage, and strengthen brand visibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, proofread, and edit press releases to align with brand messaging and campaign goals
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets locally and globally
• Distribute press releases through PR wires, direct outreach, and online distribution platforms
• Develop targeted media lists for specific announcements and markets
• Track coverage, analyze distribution performance, and prepare reports with insights
• Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to integrate PR with broader campaigns
• Monitor competitor press activity, industry trends, and emerging media opportunities
• Ensure press releases follow AP style guidelines and are optimized for SEO

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
• Proven track record in drafting and distributing press releases with measurable results
• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• Familiarity with PR tools, media databases, and wire services
• Strong ability to build relationships with media professionals
• Effective organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of African and global media landscapes is an added advantage
