About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our new Lagos-based cross-functional development team. This team will design and build technology solutions that power and improve our ability to deliver large-scale learning gains.

You will work primarily on our Android-based learning management platform and academy technology systems. This role offers the opportunity to join a high-performing, innovative team and contribute to software development that directly impacts education quality for thousands of children.

We value innovation, quick feedback, and meaningful results. Our Android applications support academy management, community engagement, and pupil learning. You will lead the development of the next generation of these tools focusing on reliability, scalability, and creative new features like adaptive learning and automated test grading.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather requirements, design, build, test, and deploy new Android features for the academy technology platform.
• Collaborate with server-side developers to design APIs specifically for Android applications.
• Work across all aspects of the application, including UI, UX, business logic, storage, and networking.
• Introduce and maintain architectural patterns that enhance scalability, stability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with strong academic performance.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional Android development experience, with published apps on Google Play.
• Experience managing the full app lifecycle—from concept to deployment and production feedback.
• Proven track record in building library projects for reuse across multiple applications.
• Knowledge of Gradle and dependency injection frameworks.
• Experience architecting complete Android applications.
• Commitment to automated testing (unit, integration, and functional).
• Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery in fast-paced release environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Openness to learning new tools, methods, and best practices.
