Job Summary
The Transmission Implementation Engineer will be responsible for proactive network fulfillment activities, troubleshooting, and resolving network-related issues. The role requires ensuring service delivery, implementing changes, and supporting network operations with accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve 1st and 2nd level network issues
- Respond to and resolve DWDM and Metro network incidents within agreed timelines
- Review and execute re-provision requests (RPRs) on Ciena DWDM Submarine and Metro networks with minimal supervision
- Support all aspects of network management, ensuring smooth implementation and minimal impact on global communications
- Deploy and document changes in line with problem and change management procedures
- Participate in projects from the engineering team, ensuring full implementation and documentation standards are followed
- Deliver projects within set timelines
- Interpret, review, and implement Metro Ethernet, Microwave, and GPON network designs from the core planning team
- Maintain service integrity by restoring, recovering, or altering configurations as needed
- Ensure network documentation for global and metro fiber systems is always accurate and updated
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong ability to review and execute transmission provisioning requests
- Experience in troubleshooting, identifying root causes, and recommending practical solutions
- Ability to install, commission, implement, and configure systems according to specifications
- Hands-on experience with Ethernet analyzers and optical testing tools
- Proven ability to monitor and manage service delivery, including third-party vendors
- Analytical skills to interpret data, identify issues, and recommend solutions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Solid knowledge of IP MPLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Professional certifications such as CCNA and Project Management are required
