Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Legal Officer to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential legal support to the Executive Management, Board, and Board Committee members to help them fulfill their responsibilities. Your key duties will include:

  • Offering legal advisory and secretariat support to the Executive Management, Board, and Board Committee members.
  • Monitoring follow-up actions taken after meetings and maintaining an up-to-date rolling agenda.
  • Keeping detailed records of Board and Board Committee papers, minutes, and delegated authorities.
  • Assisting in the organization of annual and extraordinary general meetings.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with key executives and managers who report to the Boards/Committees.
  • Ensuring timely preparation and submission of all statutory and legal regulatory filings for 100% compliance, avoiding sanctions and fines.
  • Updating and maintaining the CSCS regulatory and compliance matrix in line with industry requirements.
  • Safeguarding minutes of meetings, agreements, contracts, and other critical documents, both physically and electronically, with a strong focus on preventing loss or misplacement.
  • Managing and monitoring the company’s portfolio of legal matters, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Executing assignments delegated by the Head of Legal within the agreed timelines and ensuring successful delivery.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a First Degree in Law, with a Bachelor’s in Law from the Nigerian Law School.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Legal Practitioner or Company Secretary in a bank, reputable investment firm, or related industry.
