Position: Volunteer Team Leader
Location: Remote (Flexible, but must be available for conference calls across time zones)
Employment Type: Volunteer (Unpaid)

Position Overview
We are looking for passionate and organized individuals to serve as Volunteer Team Leaders within Kiva’s Review and Translation Program. This program includes 400+ volunteers who help ensure loan profiles are accurately translated, reviewed, and edited before they are published on Kiva.org.

As a Volunteer Team Leader, you’ll oversee a team of up to 35 volunteers. You will guide, motivate, and support your team to maintain a consistent flow of reviewed loan profiles, helping Kiva achieve its mission of expanding access to financial services worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a remote team of up to 35 volunteer translators and editors
  • Communicate regularly with team members via email to offer guidance and answer questions
  • Share weekly updates and creative engagement strategies to boost volunteer participation
  • Ensure timely review of loan profiles and help troubleshoot basic issues
  • Collaborate with fellow Team Leaders and Kiva staff during scheduled virtual meetings
  • Share insights and contribute ideas to enhance the Review and Translation Program
  • Help shape best practices for future Team Leaders

Who We’re Looking For
Successful candidates will be:

  • Confident with written English communication
  • Comfortable with remote work and basic digital tools
  • Able to dedicate 4–6 hours per week for a 13-month period
  • Skilled in setting and managing goals for themselves and others
  • Proactive, organized, and responsive to email communication
  • Willing to support and inspire a diverse volunteer team
  • Open to attending 2–3 virtual meetings annually
  • Comfortable providing written feedback and guidance

Basic Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have regular access to a computer (mobile and tablet platforms not supported)
  • Must sign a volunteer agreement covering borrower privacy and media release
  • Must be available to work remotely

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience volunteering or managing remote teams
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Russian, French, or Portuguese is a plus
