Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Budget Officer to join our team. In this role, you will support the Director of Budget in preparing and managing the University’s financial plans. Your primary responsibilities will include budget forecasting, financial analysis, fund allocation, and monitoring of financial transactions. You will also ensure compliance with the University’s financial policies and contribute to the effective financial planning of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and managing the University’s operating, administrative, and capital budgets.
- Conduct budget analyses and revenue forecasting to support financial planning.
- Monitor financial expenditures to ensure they align with approved budgets.
- Develop financial reports and presentations for management and external auditors.
- Work with department heads to formulate and review budget estimates.
- Analyze trends affecting budget needs and recommend necessary adjustments.
- Prepare cost-benefit analyses for financial requests and explore alternative funding options.
- Ensure budgetary compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support in cost analysis, financial allocation, and budget preparation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in budget preparation, financial reporting, and financial analysis, preferably in an educational or nonprofit organization.
