Job Title: Health and Nutrition Officer
Location: Borno

Role Purpose The Health and Nutrition Officer will be responsible for supporting and implementing IMAM and IMCI programs in target areas. This position requires collaboration with stakeholders to ensure best practices are followed, technical leadership is provided, and health and nutrition activities are coordinated across sectors. This role also involves capacity building, training health workers, supporting community-based nutrition programs, and monitoring performance to improve child health and nutrition outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and implement IMAM and IMCI programs in targeted states, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Provide technical leadership to nutrition and health activities under the project.
- Coordinate health and nutrition activities across sectors for a person-centered, multi-sectoral approach.
- Identify and address training needs of health and nutrition workers.
- Conduct training, post-training evaluations, and mentoring to improve healthcare capacity.
- Support community-level nutrition initiatives in line with national guidelines to reduce child mortality and morbidity.
- Improve data management and reporting of health indicators in alignment with MOH priorities.
- Attend sector meetings, represent the organization, and contribute to discussions on nutrition and health.
- Advocate for better health policies and strengthen partnerships with state-level stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate maternal, newborn, and child health interventions.
- Conduct supervision and ensure compliance with Save the Children clinical standards.
Scope of Role The Health and Nutrition Officer will lead the implementation of nutrition and health components of Save the Children’s projects. Responsibilities include guiding early identification of SAM and at-risk mothers, supporting primary healthcare services, and ensuring compliance with national guidelines and organizational standards.

Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Nursing, Medicine, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of field experience in humanitarian and development environments.
- Proficiency in analyzing information, evaluating options, and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English and at least one major Nigerian language.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work under challenging conditions.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, health interventions, and stakeholder management.
- Experience in data analytics, coordination, and facilitation.
- Computer proficiency (Excel, Word, databases).
