Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Specialist to lead inclusive planning and stakeholder engagement across new urban development projects. This role is essential for ensuring that communities are actively involved in shaping development plans and that social risks are managed effectively throughout the project cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement frameworks for community engagement and participatory planning
  • Organize consultations, town hall meetings, and local dialogue sessions
  • Carry out stakeholder mapping, social impact assessments, and vulnerability analysis
  • Set up and manage grievance redress mechanisms with responsive feedback systems
  • Ensure gender, youth, and social inclusion are integrated into project plans
  • Work closely with planning, resettlement, and monitoring teams to track outcomes
  • Document engagement efforts through reports, community profiles, and presentations
  • Design and support community mobilization and training activities
  • Monitor and address social risks such as displacement or land-related concerns
  • Act as the main liaison between OYNTCDA and the communities during project execution

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Community Development, Sociology, Social Work, Development Studies, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Engineering, Finance, or Law
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or social development—preferably in infrastructure or urban planning contexts
  • Strong knowledge of participatory approaches and social safeguard frameworks (e.g., World Bank ESS or AfDB ISS)
  • Proven ability to manage community relations and resolve conflicts
  • Fluency in Yoruba and strong communication skills with grassroots communities
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and report writing abilities
  • Experience working with government institutions, NGOs, or donor-funded programs is an added advantage
