Role Overview

The Credit Analyst will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of new and existing clients to support sound lending decisions. The role involves performing in-depth financial and risk analysis, verifying supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory standards. You will also assist in monitoring loan performance and developing strategies to minimize credit risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and appraise credit applications in line with company policies and established criteria.

  • Ensure timely completion of credit analysis within the approved turnaround time.

  • Verify the authenticity of all supporting documentation and customer information.

  • Conduct customer and guarantor interviews when required.

  • Monitor loan portfolios to ensure adherence to repayment terms and other conditions.

  • Perform site inspections of customers’ businesses and collateral where necessary.

  • Evaluate restructuring requests and provide preliminary recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal credit approval processes.

  • Work closely with the remedial team to support recovery strategies for delinquent accounts.

  • Prepare periodic reports on portfolio performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Recommend policy, process, or product enhancements to improve credit quality and efficiency.

  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize credit losses and strengthen portfolio health.

Qualifications and Skills
  • OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Credit Analyst in a financial institution.

  • Completion or exemption from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

  • Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills.

  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively under tight deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Professional, dependable, and committed to teamwork and service excellence.

  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
