About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Manager to oversee the collection, management, and analysis of project data. This role ensures that high-quality data informs decision-making, enhances project effectiveness, and supports reporting at all levels. The Data Manager will work closely with teams, including two Country Office-based Data Analysts, state command centers, and partners, to uphold data integrity and optimize project performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily data collection, organization, and verification, ensuring accuracy and security.
  • Develop and maintain data protocols, generating reports and flagging inconsistencies.
  • Manage LGA-level data transmission and provide bi-weekly updates on project progress.
  • Ensure the effective use of CommCare across field operations, troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Organize and refine data from CommCare and KoboToolbox, integrating insights for decision-making.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and key insights that inform project strategies.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts to produce reports, enabling partners to assess project impact.
  • Engage with partners to standardize data collection methods and improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with the NTD MEL Manager to prepare and validate data for reporting.
  • Provide updates on data quality and project progress during review meetings.
  • Monitor child health outcomes and ensure data meets project requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with authorities and partners to facilitate seamless data exchange.
  • Present data-driven recommendations and insights during meetings and briefings.
  • Maintain Power BI dashboards to track progress and share monthly updates.
  • Create visual representations of key findings and prepare presentations for stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on data tools, offering support and guidance.
  • Monitor staff performance in data-related roles to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Public Health, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in data management, preferably in health-related projects (e.g., child survival, AMR, or MDA initiatives).
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI or similar visualization tools.
  • Experience with ODK, CommCare, KoboToolbox, and/or DHIS2 for managing health data.
  • Ability to perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to clean and standardize data.
  • Basic knowledge of Python or SQL to enhance data processing efficiency.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools like ArcGIS or QGIS for geographical data representation.
  • Strong skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with partners and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to train, supervise, and coordinate with diverse teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Commitment to high-quality work, meeting deadlines, and adapting to change.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of advocacy, research, and partnership development.
  • Understanding of the Polio Platform and the Nigerian Health System.
