Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and creative media professional to join our team as a Communications and Media Manager. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape public narratives, amplify human rights messages, and enhance Amnesty International Nigeria’s impact.
As Communications and Media Manager, you will lead the development and execution of compelling media and digital strategies to increase public engagement and visibility. You will build strong media relations, manage digital platforms, and ensure that Amnesty International Nigeria’s messaging is impactful, timely, and aligned with our human rights mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement communication, media, and digital strategies to support Amnesty’s advocacy and campaign goals.
- Digital Leadership: Manage and grow Amnesty Nigeria’s online presence, including social media, website, blogs, and multimedia content.
- Media Engagement: Draft press releases, statements, and briefing materials. Build and maintain strong relationships with national and international media outlets.
- Content Creation: Oversee the development of high-quality, engaging, and on-brand content to support Amnesty’s advocacy efforts.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track media trends and digital analytics, providing insights and recommendations to enhance visibility and impact.
- Stakeholder Representation: Represent Amnesty Nigeria at media engagements and public events, effectively communicating our positions and priorities.
- Team Management: Lead and support the communications team, including social media and digital campaign officers.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related fields (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in communication, journalism, or media operations, with a proven track record in strategy and execution.
- Strong leadership skills in digital and social media communications, with experience across platforms like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
- Excellent writing and editorial skills, with the ability to craft messaging for diverse audiences.
- Passion for human rights, social justice, and advocacy.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment.
