Job Overview

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Digital Forensic Investigator to join our dynamic team. As part of the role, you will be responsible for forensic investigation and analysis of digital evidence related to cybersecurity incidents, data breaches, and other digital crimes. This includes using specialized tools and techniques to recover, preserve, and examine electronic data for legal or investigative purposes.

Job Objectives
  • Conduct thorough forensic investigations on cybersecurity incidents and digital crimes.
  • Investigate cryptocurrency exchanges, blockchain networks, and digital asset portfolios.
  • Use specialized tools for the recovery and analysis of digital evidence.
  • Serve as an expert witness in a court of law.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act on behalf of the Team Lead in their absence.
  • Assist in planning and executing investigation tasks.
  • Investigate cyberattack incidents and information security breaches.
  • Gather and preserve electronic evidence from various digital sources.
  • Determine the root causes of incidents and recommend corrective measures.
  • Research emerging threats and examine systems for potential vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of digital data to identify security breaches or unauthorized access.
  • Use forensic software and tools to recover, analyze, and preserve digital evidence.
  • Assist other departments with data extraction and analysis.
  • Participate in incident response activities, providing remediation recommendations.
  • Perform forensic analysis of cryptocurrency exchanges, blockchain networks, and digital assets.
  • Serve as an expert witness during cyber incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with the policies outlined in the Information Security Handbook.
Job Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum: First Degree (preferably in Science or a numerate discipline).
  • Preferred: Higher degrees or professional certifications such as CEH, CHFI, CISSP, CPA, CFE, CISA, or other relevant digital forensics qualifications.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in IT, digital forensics investigation, or IT audit.
Required Competencies

Knowledge:

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) principles.
  • Digital forensic tools, techniques, and methodologies for data recovery and analysis.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, attack vectors, and security threats.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and network protocols.
  • Expertise with forensic tools like EnCase, FTK, Autopsy, and Volatility.
  • Solid understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency protocols, and cryptography.

Skills:

  • Business analysis, internal control/audit, and risk governance.
  • Knowledge of cybercrime investigation processes and legal issues in digital forensics.
  • Expertise in seizing digital evidence, preserving evidence, and evaluating electronic crime scenes.
  • Investigating password attacks, email crimes, and analyzing log files.
  • Ability to investigate attacks on wireless networks and related issues.
  • Proficiency in data gathering, analysis, and process improvement.
  • Strong skills in project management, network administration, and IT governance.
