Job Overview
The Enterprise Development Advisor will collaborate with the Senior Enterprise Development Specialist to deliver capacity-building support and aftercare coaching to program participants. The role involves facilitating business connections, gathering market insights, and tracking participant performance. While the responsibilities outlined below highlight the core duties, candidates should expect to take on additional tasks as the program evolves.
Program Overview
This initiative aims to combat unemployment in Nigeria by implementing four key strategies: self-employment promotion, micro and small business growth acceleration, job readiness training, and ecosystem development. The project follows a results-driven approach, applying proven methods to link women and youth to meaningful, long-term job opportunities. By leveraging existing infrastructure and learning from previous initiatives, the program will empower participants through skill development and strategic connections to high-growth sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct area mapping, mobilization, and recruitment of program beneficiaries at the start of each cohort.
- Assist the Senior Enterprise Development Specialist and Program Manager in crafting the project work plan.
- Oversee the implementation of the project’s digital strategy, ensuring participants are actively engaged on designated social media platforms.
- Support training delivery through selected platforms and track participant attendance in alignment with program guidelines.
- Facilitate connections between micro retailers and financial institutions, suppliers, and relevant ecosystem players.
- Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for instructors and monitor their delivery quality.
- Collaborate with partners and program participants during the aftercare phase.
- Assess emerging challenges and develop appropriate solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
- Participate in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities, including weekly and monthly updates.
- Develop success stories and highlight lessons learned throughout the program’s implementation.
- Maintain adherence to the program work plan and proactively address any risks that may hinder project outcomes.
- Uphold TechnoServe’s values, vision, and strategy while performing assigned duties.
- Take on additional responsibilities as necessary to support evolving project needs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Business Enterprise, or related Social Sciences/Humanities disciplines with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with rural communities and supporting micro and small businesses in Nigeria.
- Alternatively, candidates with a Master’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Language Requirements
- Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Hausa or Yoruba is an added advantage.
Travel Requirements
- Extensive travel is not anticipated but may be required depending on program demands.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Comcare and KoBoCollect is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including company leaders, community figures, and program participants.
- Strong understanding of Nigeria’s micro, small, and growing business landscape.
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Familiarity with digital training delivery methods.
