Job Overview

The Poultry Hand will be responsible for carrying out daily farm operations, ensuring proper care, feeding, and maintenance of poultry houses. This role requires dedication, physical fitness, and the ability to follow farm routines and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical, hands-on care for broilers or layers following standard husbandry practices.
• Maintain strict biosecurity measures, including disinfection and disease prevention protocols.
• Handle chicks and adult birds calmly and safely to reduce stress and injury.
• Prepare and distribute feed, manage water systems, and monitor feed and water consumption.
• Observe bird health daily, identifying early signs of illness or distress and reporting promptly.
• Keep poultry houses clean by replacing litter and maintaining hygiene to control pests and ammonia levels.
• Record essential data such as feed usage, water intake, mortalities, and daily observations accurately.
• Maintain punctuality and reliability during long shifts that require physical activity.
• Work effectively with team members, follow supervisor instructions, and communicate clearly.
• Be open to learning and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• OND, SSCE, GCE, or NECO qualification.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in poultry or farm management.
• Strong work ethic, physical stamina, and attention to detail.

Salary

₦40,000 – ₦50,000 monthly.
