We are currently recruiting for the position of Process Technician to join our dynamic team.

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Role Overview

As a Process Technician, your primary responsibility is to support day-to-day operations and ensure the effective surveillance of unit equipment. You will be expected to master safe work practices, identify potential hazards, and implement safeguards to ensure smooth and safe operation of the unit. Your role will require you to isolate parts of the unit for maintenance, manage chemical and environmental risks, and coordinate the safe return of equipment to service to prevent process disruptions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of unit operations, safe operating limits, and control systems.
  • Understand and manage unit process/environmental hazards and ensure the application of effective safeguards.
  • Adhere to safety standards, including Lock-Out / Tag-Out procedures, and comply with Management of Change protocols.
  • Perform surveillance rounds with a focus on Operations Excellence and Process & Personnel Safety.
  • Contribute to process plans for equipment maintenance or restoration.
  • Support both field and console operations to optimize unit performance.
  • Be prepared to act in emergency situations and implement effective response actions.
  • Monitor and assess equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and support optimization efforts.
Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Higher National Diploma in Process and/or Instrumentation, City and Guilds level 4 in Process or Instrumentation, or an equivalent qualification from an oil and gas apprenticeship program.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as an oil and gas operator technician.

Preferred:

  • Strong adaptability, creativity, and innovation with an excellent understanding of workplace hazards.
  • Technical expertise in operating and maintaining production equipment such as pumps, compressors, and separators. Experience with FPSOs is a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of instrumentation and mechanical systems, with the ability to perform minor repairs, maintenance, and adjustments on equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety systems such as ESD, Fire & Gas systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Ability to interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and manage production data accurately.
  • Knowledge of crude oil processing, stabilization, and storage, particularly in FPSO cargo tanks, including offloading procedures and hydrocarbon processing systems.
