Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Urban Planning Specialist to lead the design and implementation of strategic urban development plans across new and growing cities in Oyo State. This role is essential to delivering masterplans, land use policies, and regulatory frameworks that align with the state’s long-term development goals.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with technical teams, government partners, and communities to deliver inclusive and well-structured urban environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review masterplans, land use strategies, and district development plans
  • Carry out spatial assessments, demographic analysis, and growth projections
  • Support zoning, infrastructure planning, and urban design code development
  • Coordinate layouts for transport, housing, commercial, and public space integration
  • Ensure compliance with physical planning laws, environmental guidelines, and development control policies
  • Guide the implementation of plans and monitor alignment with approved frameworks
  • Engage with stakeholders including local authorities, landowners, and community representatives
  • Assist with feasibility studies, planning briefs, and consultant evaluations
  • Contribute to planning reports, technical documentation, and investment proposals

Requirements

  • Degree in Urban and Regional Planning (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
  • At least 7 years of practical experience in urban or regional planning
  • Registered with NITP and TOPREC (compulsory)
  • In-depth knowledge of planning laws, land use policy, and development control processes in Nigeria
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ArcGIS or QGIS, and urban design software
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and analytical skills
  • Experience with public-private development models and affordable housing planning is an advantage
