About the Role
We are not just looking for a content creator; we are building a movement. As a Digital Journalist at NewGlobe, you will play a vital role as the storyteller, strategist, and visibility driver behind our mission. Your job will be to amplify the impact of NewGlobe’s work in education, generating excitement and visibility for our programs.

Embedded within a government education program, your role will include creating compelling digital content, engaging with communities and government leaders, and transforming real-world stories into impactful narratives. The goal is to make NewGlobe’s work resonate far and wide, inspiring change and sparking conversation at the local, national, and global levels.

Key Responsibilities

Mission Ownership

  • Develop and execute a digital content strategy to amplify the work NewGlobe is doing in the JigawaUNITE program.
  • Showcase local education transformation through the voices of educators, students, and communities.
  • Use creativity and emotion to drive visibility, engagement, and awareness of the program’s impact.

Field Storytelling (50% Field Work)

  • Regularly visit schools, communities, and government offices to capture real, human-centered stories through video, photography, and interviews.
  • Conduct impactful interviews with students, teachers, and government leaders, ensuring the visual and messaging reflects the program’s context and aspirations.

Content Execution & Distribution

  • Create and manage digital content calendars for the program, executing campaigns across platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  • Work with the central team to align global priorities with local adaptations.
  • Ensure key stakeholders, including government officials and media influencers, see and engage with the right stories.

Performance Tracking & Strategy Evolution

  • Track key metrics such as digital reach, engagement, and virality, and adjust content strategies to maximize impact.
  • Measure how well content moves hearts and minds, ensuring that the campaign is reaching and resonating with the right audiences.

Influence & Community Engagement

  • Cultivate grassroots digital movements by working with local influencers and digital ambassadors.
  • Use WhatsApp to engage with government officials, parents, and community leaders, creating opportunities for organic content sharing.

Programme Alignment & Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with program leadership to stay ahead of milestones and identify key story moments.
  • Participate in weekly syncs and planning meetings to ensure content aligns with strategic priorities.

What We’re Looking For

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in content creation, social media management, and digital storytelling, preferably within the education, public service, or social impact sectors.

Skills and Expertise

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing tools like Adobe Premiere).
  • Experience managing WhatsApp and other communication tools for internal and external messaging.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple content projects and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset to track performance and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to content creation.

Proactive and Creative

  • Strong ability to generate new ideas, take ownership of projects, and adapt to evolving needs.
  • High attention to detail to ensure all content aligns with NewGlobe’s standards and objectives.
  • Flexibility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of local languages being an added advantage.
